The Day I Learned to Swim at Maple Hill

You know, they say that disc golf is a game of skill, precision, and a whole lot of patience. Well, let me tell you about the time I learned it’s also a game of swimming. Yup, you read that right. Swimming.

It was a perfect afternoon at Maple Hill, I was on the tee of hole 8 – the one with the daunting water hazard. In a moment of overconfidence, I decided to go for it. I launched my disc, it soared through the air, and… plop! Right into the pond.

That day, I learned three things: one, I’m no Michael Phelps, two, I need to work on my water shots, and three, it isn’t as easy to play as Jomez makes it seem!

On to my review.

Maple Hill – A Disc Golf Wonderland

If you’re a disc golf aficionado, you’ve likely heard the whispers about Maple Hill. It’s often touted as the best course, and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype.

This is a course that has it all. It caters to players of all skills with multiple tee and pin locations. Want a laid-back game? They’ve got you. Looking for a challenge? Step right up.

What sets Maple Hill apart is the sheer variety it offers. Take the Old Glory layout for example. It’s a mix of red, white, and blue tees, offering a unique mix of challenges and allowing you to savor the full spectrum of the course.

But be prepared, my friend. Maple Hill isn’t for the faint of heart. Those tall hills and winds can turn your game into a real thigh-burner and, at times, a lesson in humility.

A Scenic Symphony – The Beauty of Maple Hill

Playing at Maple Hill is like stepping into a painting. The course sprawls across a stunning New England landscape that will have you reaching for your camera at every hole. From serene ponds to lush forests, it’s a feast for the eyes.

And when the snow blankets the course, it’s transformed into a winter wonderland. It’s a bit grueling, sure, but the views are worth every chilly toe.

The Whole Nine Yards – Facilities and Staff

Beyond the course itself, Maple Hill shines in its amenities. The pro shop is a treasure trove of disc golf gear, packed with everything you might need.

The staff, too, are a highlight. They’re always ready to offer tips and advice or help you find that specific disc you’ve been hunting for in the pro shop.

But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the tee pads. They’re not bad, but for a course of this caliber, they could be better. It’s a small gripe, though, and one I’m sure they’ll address in due time. I mean, if they can handle a disc golf-playing swimmer like me, they can handle anything, right?

The Verdict – An Experience Worth Its Weight in Discs

So, is Maple Hill worth the hype? Absolutely. It’s more than just a disc golf course – it’s an experience. Sure, it’s pay-to-play, and not everyone will be thrilled about that, but believe me when I say it’s worth every penny.

I mean, just being able to say you have played the same course as legends like Ricky “Sockibomb” Wysocki!

This is a course you’ll want to return to, time and time again, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie still perfecting your water shots.

Remember, though, that Maple Hill isn’t just a test of your disc golf skills. It’s a test of your spirit, your resilience, and sometimes, your swimming abilities. And who knows? You might just come away with a funny story to tell, just like me.
